The bars on this page

Every figure below is from YouTube's August 10, 2026 announcement, except the subscriber bar, which that post does not change.

  • 8,000 qualified watch hours in the last 365 days for a new application. The watch-hour field treats that window as the last 12 months.
  • 20 million qualified Shorts views in the last 90 days, the other way for a new application to clear the content bar.
  • 1,000 subscribers. The August 10, 2026 post does not publish a new subscriber number. The existing Partner Program bar stays 1,000, so this calculator still tracks it.
  • Shorts ads and subscription revenue sharing, starting February 1, 2027: 10 million qualified Shorts views in a rolling 90 days. A channel under that bar stays in the Partner Program and can keep earning on long-form. Shorts revenue sharing resumes once the channel is over 10 million again.
  • Creators review and sign the new terms in YouTube Studio. YouTube says those terms take effect on February 1, 2027, so January 31, 2027 is the last day before they apply.

YPP changes Feb 1, 2027

Plain summary of the YPP changes Feb 1, 2027, from YouTube's August 10, 2026 post only:

  • YouTube called this the first significant Partner Program change since 2018. The new watch-hour and Shorts-view entry bars apply to new creators. YouTube says the entry update will not affect creators already in the program. Fan Funding and shopping entry thresholds stay as they are.
  • New creators applying for ads and Premium revenue sharing need 8,000 qualified watch hours in the last 365 days, or 20 million qualified Shorts views in the last 90 days.
  • From February 1, 2027, Shorts ads and subscription revenue sharing require 10 million qualified Shorts views in the last 90 days. Below that, a channel remains in the program, keeps long-form earnings, and Shorts revenue sharing resumes after it crosses 10 million again.
  • YouTube is also expanding Premium Lite to every country where YouTube Premium is offered, and it described separate Shorts incentive programs for channels under 10 million views. This page does not estimate that money.
  • Creators review and sign the new terms in YouTube Studio. The terms take effect on February 1, 2027.
